Raj Korpan is an Assistant Professor of Computer Science at Hunter College of the City University of New York (CUNY) and an affiliated Doctoral Faculty in Computer Science at The Graduate Center, CUNY. His research is at the intersection of artificial intelligence (AI), human-robot interaction (HRI), and machine learning (ML). Currently, he is focused on social robot navigation, explainable robotics, and ethics and diversity in AI and robotics. He directs the Trustworthy, Intelligent, and Explainable Robotics (TIER) Lab, founded in September 2023. The TIER lab’s long-term goal is to develop intelligent robot systems for social good.
Professor Korpan was formerly an Assistant Professor of Computer Science at Iona University from 2021-2023. He received a B.S. in Economics and Finance from Bentley University in 2010, an M.S. in Statistics from Baruch College, CUNY in 2015, and a Ph.D. in Computer Science from The Graduate Center, CUNY in 2021.
